Someone To Believe In
Kathryn Shay
"A master at her craft," award-winning author Kathryn
Shay delighted readers with her firefighter trilogy. Now she
continues to light up the pages with the story of a man and
a woman on opposite sides of the political fence, but the
same side of desire.
She has the face of an angel. But Bailey O'Neil goes where
other angels fear to tread: the roughest neighborhoods of
New York City. With a heart as big as the city itself,
Baileyknown to some as the Street Angelworks to
keep teens away from drugs and gang violence. Because she
knows what it is to lose a loved one to senseless
violenceand because her half-sister would have wanted
her to...
It is people like Senator Clay Wainwright who really push
Bailey's buttonsso she signs up to help his opponent's
campaign. Although Bailey and Clay work for the same cause,
their approaches are as different as uptown and downtown.
But when the governor assigns both to a gang violence task
force, heated discussion soon turns to fiery passion. Now,
the two will have to challenge their own beliefsbut
the Senator and the Street Angel are always up for a fight...
Shay’s writing trademark is taking seemingly impossible
relationships with almost insurmountable obstacles and
developing them into classic tales of true love, which is
exactly what she does here. That’s not to say the characters
won’t have more problems to deal with, but they’ve learned
the fine arts of giving and receiving and forgiving, which
are the hardest, yet most rewarding, lessons to learn in any
relationship. SOMEONE TO BELIEVE IN is another highly
complex, compelling and thought-provoking novel written by
one of the best. Tanzey Cutter, Reviewer, Fresh
Fiction
This contemporary romance is built off a real social issue
involving how to best deal with the influence of gangs. The
lead couple is a wonderful pairing of seemingly opposites
though when love intercedes they begin to realize how much
in common they truly have, which is the typical case in
societal problems. Clay and Bailey are superb characters,
who want to help people, but disagree on method making their
love for one another so much more fun to follow.

When Sen. Clay Wainright was a hard-nosed attorney, he had
put social activist Bailey O'Neil (a.k.a. Street Angel) in
jail for a year for harboring a possible teenage killer. Now
the two are on the same gang-violence task force. Not
unexpectedly, the sparks fly, and as they are forced to work
together for the good of the community, Bailey and Clay find
that they have more in common than they had thought. A
sensual, entertaining romantic tale that deals with more
than a few serious issues. Shay (Nothing More To Lose) lives
in Rochester, NY. Bette-Lee Fox, Library

Clay and Bailey are great characters! Their struggles are
real and how they each handled the situation added to the
telling of the story. Ms. Shay has done a very good job at
portraying both sides of this very serious coin. This is the
first time I've ever read Ms. Shay and I must say that I
plan on looking for her backlist. This read offers it all
romance, conflict, and resolution. This is a fast read and
one that I highly recommend. Romance Designs
4 ½ stars
Shay has produced a smooth, evocatively written novel that
tackles big issues and has substantial conflict. The
believable characters and the complex, haunting plot deepen
the story on every level. Because the hero and heroine have
significant differences in their beliefs, the attraction
between them results in an intense sexual tension that
propels the reader through the story. Romantic
