Christine Blevins
Christine Blevins grew up on the south side of Chicago. She
is the youngest of four children born to Ukrainian
immigrants. Like most immigrant kids, she was expected to
study hard and excel in school. She spent a lot of time with
her nose in a book, and in her beloved books, she found the
pathways to worlds beyond the grimy neighborhood she lived in.
Christine eventually left the old neighborhood, completed
design school, landed a job as an interior designer, fell in
love with Brian Blevins (a wonderful guy), married him, had
children (four great kids), veered into the graphic design
business (partners with Brian), all the while never losing
her ability to become wholeheartedly immersed in a good story.
While in Scotland on vacation, a story popped into her
headnot an unusual event. For years she would imagine
stories while riding the train to work, nursing a baby or
filling the moments before falling asleep. This
Scottish-inspired story was her favorite kindan
adventure taleand it was unusualfor this was the
first time she was struck by the notion of writing her story
down. Even though she had never written anything other than
papers way back in her school days, Christine purchased the
first of many spiral notebooks and began to scribble. The
scribbles necessitated copious research. The research
resulted in more scribbling..
Two years later it was finishedher first booka
historical novel set in 18th century Scotland. She learned
many things in completing this first effortmost
important being how much she enjoyed research and how much
she loved storytelling. The muse very quickly smacked her on
the head again, and this time, MIDWIFE OF THE BLUE
RIDGE was born.
Christine Blevins lives in Elmhurst, Illinois with her
husband Brian, two of said four children (the elder two
having moved onward) and the family golden-doodle, Dude.
